Varsity girls basketball will look to make it three ISST championships in a row when they head to Bonn International School on Thursday, March 8.
Mia Holtze (’18), the team’s captain, is confident of success at the tournament after the impressive season the Eagles have had so far. “ I’m really proud of how the team and how we have bonded but also been willing to put in the work necessary to improve,” she said.
Though Holtze is looking to come back to London with a gold medal around her neck, she believes that the major takeaway from the tournament shouldn’t be judged by the final place. “Having won gold the past two years, we are definitely hoping to continue the streak,” she said. “But ultimately I just want the team to be proud of what we have accomplished even if we don’t win it all.”
Trust will be the determining factor for the Eagles to retain their championship according to Holtze. “It will be key that the team trusts each other and remembers that we have worked hard enough to get to where we want to be,” she said.
The team head to the tournament with no injury concerns.
