Day 1 of Spring ISSTs round-up below:
On the first day of the tournament, varsity boys baseball won both of their games, beating FIS 6 -2 and later that day beating AISV 3-1. In their quest for a third straight championship, the team faces ACS Cobham tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. You can find more information about the tournament here.
Varsity Softball lost their first game of the tournament 7-6 in a high-scoring affair against FIS. However, the team recovered in their second game of the day defeating TASIS in another high-scoring match of 6-5. Tomorrow they will face off against AIS Vienna at 12:00 p.m., before their first elimination game. You can find more information about the tournament here.
The varsity boys and girls tennis tournament, which is taking place at ACS, has begun well thus far with everyone making it through the group stages except for boys singles. Notably, doubles team Libby Reagan (’19) and Sam Holzman (’19) are looking to repeat their gold-medal finish from last year, and have yet to concede a match. Girls double team Audrey Wilson (’19) and Talia Vasaturo-Kolodner (’19), who are looking to repeat their gold-medal finish from two years ago, have also yet to concede a match. Action continues tomorrow with the team searching for championships in both boys and girls.
JV and Varsity Track & Field is being held at Munich International School. As Track & Field is only a two day event, the first day is crucial to ensure placement for the finals which will take place tomorrow. The team has had a qualifier in every single final and done well in each of the straight finals events thus far. Aidan Norris (’19) won silver in the varsity boys 1500 meter race, Maddie Whitman (’22) won bronze in the JV girls 1500 meter race, and Team Captain Matthew Clement (’18) won gold in the varsity boys long jump. Looking forward to tomorrow, Team Captain Anna Costello (’19) said, “I think it’s going to be really important to stay focused, not worry about the other teams or points, and perform the way we know how to.”
