Varsity boys basketball will look for revenge when they travel to compete at this year’s ISSTs at ACS Cobham on March 8.
The team narrowly missed out on gold in last season’s tournament, losing to the Cougars in the final.
Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach Josh Davis is enthusiastic for the team’s success at ISSTs this March. “I’m very excited for the tournament. They are a group of guys that love hanging out together and love playing basketball together which makes practice enjoyable. A lot of the guys on the team have been through our system before and they understand what we expect and what we want to accomplish,” he said.
Davis expects all of the members of his team to have a role on and off the court. “There are a lot of seniors on the team and I think their chemistry will show on the court this season. I expect most of the playmaking and scoring to come through Justin Hoyt (’18). Corey LaScala (’18) has to lead the team through the point guard position. Brodie Craig (’18) will provide the toughness and voice in the locker room, and Nic Demetris (’18) will provide strong defensive abilities and scoring. I expect everyone on the team to contribute whether to be a voice in the locker room or help with the little things in the game,” he said.
“We lost to our rivals Cobham last year, so we expect to see them at some point in the tournament. We know that they have a lot of returning talent and know what it takes to win. We’re not overlooking any opponent this year though; We will play anyone, we will be ready for anyone, and we will make everyone compete with us. The team is motivated after last year and we hope to use that motivation to succeed this year.”
